Speaking Contest Opportunities
FFA members are able to compete and advance through local, district, sectional, state and national competitions.
Creed Speaking Contest: Develop communication skills and the ability to present the FFA creed before a group. Junior high and freshman members are only eligible to compete.
Prepared Speaking Contest: Develop agriculture leadership by creating a speech to stimulate interest in agriculture, FFA and leadership. Each speech must be six to eight minutes in length and only high school students are eligible to participate.
Extemporaneous Speaking Contest: Develop FFA members to express themselves on a current agriculture topic without preparing or rehearsing the content in advance. Each participant will randomly select a topic and have thirty minutes to prepare a four to six-minute speech. High school students are eligible to participate.
Parliamentary Procedure: Develop leadership abilities in order to correctly and efficiently conduct a meeting. Each team will consist of five to seven members.
Discussion Meet: Allows students to exchange ideas and information in an effort to solve a problem. Participants discuss subjects, with questions, answers, and statements. Any high school FFA member is eligible to compete.
Job Interview: Stimulate interest and acquaint members with employment procedures including resume writing, applications, and face to face interviewing. This allows students to enhance their written and oral communication. High school FFA members are eligible to participate.
Quiz Bowl Contest: Allows students to acquaint themselves with agriculture education and the FFA organization. This is a team event of three to five Junior High students.
