Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA)

Formerly known as the Gay-Straight Alliance

“Our mission is to work towards a more accepting environment for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity through education, support, social action, and advocacy. We believe that schools can be truly safe ONLY when every student is assured of access to an education without fear of harassment or violence.”

GSA is open to all students (including allies) regardless of sexual orientation.  New members may join at any time, and there is not a fee to join. 

What is the GSA? History of the PHS GSA

Due to student demand, the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club was formed at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year.  We have grown from a group of six students to a club with a membership between 35-45 students.  Our club’s activities touch all of the students in our building and help build a positive school climate. We updated our name in 2019 to the Gender and Sexuality club to be more inclusive.
