QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must be Portage Academy of Achievement graduates only.
- Students must enroll at Madison College within two school years after graduation from PAA.
- Strong preference will be given to students who enter the Manufacturing, Construction, or Tool and Die programs.
- If there are no applicants in the above programs, students entering other associate degree programs will be considered.
AMOUNT:
The amount of this scholarship will normally be $1,000. This can be paid out to one student or, if there are more deserving and qualified candidates, split into two $500 awards.
DURATION:
- This will be an annual scholarship, provided funds are available.
- The scholarship is not automatically renewable. A student may receive the award a second time, but must re-apply and compete for the scholarship again.
- Applications are due May 1 to PAA.
4. STUDENT SELECTION:
Portage Academy teachers will identify students who are qualified for this award according to the following criteria:
- INTENT TO ENROLL AT MADISON COLLEGE
- ENROLL IN THE MANUFACTURING, CONSTRUCTION OR ENGINEERING PROGRAMS.
- CHARACTER/SERIOUSNESS OF PURPOSE
- FINANCIAL NEED
a. Recipients will be chosen by a committee of PAA teachers, counselors, and principal.
b. If there are no qualified candidates, there will be no award that year, and two scholarships could be awarded in the following year.
5. CLAIMS:
If a student receives a $500 award, the scholarship will be paid directly to Madison College after completion of their first semester as a full-time student with a 2.0 GPA and proof of continued enrollment (Feb. 1st). If they receive $1,000, they can repeat this same process for the second semester (July 1st). A student can’t acquire more scholarship money than the cost of their program.
